May 11-15, 2017: Natural Italian Wine Course at Castello di Potentino

Join a small group (max 12)  for a four-day, full immersion course on Italian wine, food and culture in a Tuscan castle . Eleanor Shannon, certified sommelier and founder of Uncorked In Italy, will lead the course. Read more.

Participants will learn how Italian wines are made, how to taste and understand Italian wine and how to pair it with food. The course price will include room and board, daily wine tastings, two winery visits with tastings, a dinner with Michelin starred chef, Roberto Rossi, workshops on making pasta and risotto, demonstrations on butchery and cheese, an olive oil tasting, daily yoga classes and more. The Castello di Potentino dates back to 1042 and is located on the Monte Amiata, the now extinct volcano that the ancient Etruscans believed was home to the gods. Staying at the castle means experiencing life on an organic wine estate that has been recognized for excellence in making wine and olive oil. The course will feature artisan wines with strong identities related their grape variety and terroir including daily tastings and a visit to a Brunello di Montalcino winery. The course covers all 20 wine regions in Italy with special emphasis on Tuscany, Piedmont, Sicily and the Veneto.
